Heidi Wittenberg, MD
Training and ExperienceDr. Wittenberg specializes in minimally invasive and alternative treatments for urogynecologic issues like prolapse and incontinence; as well as, for gynecologic problems like fibroids and bleeding. She received her undergraduate education at UC Berkeley, a Masters in Physiology and her medical degree from Chicago Medical School. After 10 years of training in Chicago and at Johns Hopkins, she created the original Continence Center at California Pacific Medical Center. She has since developed the Comprehensive Pelvic Center at Pacific Gynecology & Obstetrics Medical Group office. Accolades and SpecialtiesRecognized, locally and nationally for her innovative surgical skills and her commitment to improving womens health. Dr. Wittenberg is often quoted "If your quality of life is affected by prolapse, leaking or retention, don't assume that it is due to age; get an assessment, get treatment, and then go enjoy your life." She is asked by other physicians to teach them minimally invasive procedures and is referred patients by other physicians for these specialized procedures. The first DaVinci Robotic Sacrocolpopexy procedure for prolapse in San Francisco was performed by Dr. Wittenberg. She also has had the most experience in San Francisco with neuromodulation for urinary urgency, frequency, incontinence or retention. Family and InterestsDr. Wittenberg maintains involvement in several local and national professional societies and holds appointments at California Pacific Medical Center. Her other interests include surgical missions internationally; charity; running and animal rescue (of which her 3 dogs Charlie, Mac & Joey are thankful for being immediate recipients of that interest).
